Don't tell me how much you love or hate Kobe Bryant, please; that's not the question. Regardless of what anyone thinks of him, it looks like the Lakers have a big mess on their hands.
Is trading him a legitimate option? Chances look pretty slim since he doesn't want to go to certain teams, other teams don't want him, and most teams can't afford him.
Is bringing in another established star to help him out an option or will they look at the mess he's helped create and decide they don't want to get into it?
What on earth are the Lakers gonna do to dig themselves out of this?

Lakers ownership has a proven track record of
getting the big stars and winning. this pass 3 years
has been tough, but regardless of kobe staying
or going, the Buss Family will get the big stars
to come to the lakers and help them win.
So I expect Lakers to be in the top 4 seeds in
the west. Last year they had the 7th best record
in the NBA until the injuries hit.

Also I will be eating burritos at Huntington Beach and
then Newport Beach down the road, and will see Kobe
and Vanessa with their two daughters... Hmmm sounds
like girls night out.

Nothing will happen. The Lakers will probably bench him on purpose but if he changes his mind and wants to play, he most likely will do so. No-one wants Kobe, and even if they did.. they would never get a fair value for him, all this trade talk with the Knicks is a bunch of garbage, the Knicks have nothing to offer then a bunch of junkie players who really suck. Then on the other hand, Chicago seems to me the team with the most chance of landing Kobe, they have a large variety of young talent along with Andres Nocioni who's contract has ended. The Bulls may also offer Ben Gordon + Tyrus Thomas + 9th pick for Kobe, they also will add a salary filler. Some people say the Bulls should add Luol deng + Ben Gordon + 9th pick for Kobe, I find that horribile. We'll have to see what happens the few nights before Draft day which is this time.

From what i heard there are rumors that Kobe will be traded for gilbert arenas. Also, i believe that the Lakers are ready to part with their big men like Andrew Bynum, and Kwame Brown if the price is right. If they were to not trade kobe Bryant, they must get either Chauncey Billups or maurice Williams in order to give Kobe a legitimate sidekick. The management will not trade Kobe, but to keep him happy and playoffbound they must shore up on good big men, through the draft or free agency.

As a sports journalist myself in California I believe that Kobe Bryant will stay with the Lakers. The Lakers orginization without Bryant would be to detrimental to the team as well as the city of Los Angeles. I think the Lakers will try to fufill Kobe's needs and build a better team around him by adding players such as Kevin Garnett or a Jason Kidd. By adding a player like Garnett we would the Lakers would be recreating a team similar to the Shaq-Kobe dynasty a few years ago

I think The Lakers need to trade Kobe. One of Kobe's characteristics is that he is stubborn, He wont back down his trade request. He might even retire and go play in Europe for FC Barcelona or Real Madrid. Because think about it, those teams got a lot money and they can offer a him a 15 mil a year salary. Kobe might just do it just so he can stick it to the lakers. Jim Buss has no business being near a Basketball decision office, the guy knows nothing about basketball. And we all know Mitch Kupchak is a boo-boo, he does what Jim Buss tells him to do.

I'd expect the Lakers to grab a playoff spot. Win 50 games or so and bow out of the playoffs. Eventually Kobe might be even grow up and be a team leader.....never mind...that ain't happenin'!

they are in for an average year, sorry! 42-40 at best. They do get some injured guys back but still have no PG or all-star Center to compete in the West with elite teams.
