I have been on the pill for over 4 years and i am currently sexually active. My boyfriend and i use condoms as a second form of protection, but my period has been off. I have been dieting and exercising more and i have also been stressed. I am not sure if this is why my period is sometimes off. Can anyone help me?

Depending on how old you are, your body may be changing and the hormone levels in your birth control may be affecting your cycle. Talk to your doctor about changing the dose mg of your pill until your period is consistent. Sometimes it just takes some experimenting to find the right level of hormones for your body. Just because something was right for you 4 years ago doesn't mean it is right for you now. It's great that you are using two forms of protection, it's better to be safe. And yes, stress and diet changes can have HUGE affects on your cycle. Again, talk with your doctor about your concerns and I'm sure they will help you figure everything out.

I've been on BCPs for about 7 yrs & I am on my 3rd type. They are all low dose pills. I switched primarily because I wanted to, not because I had to. You can stay on one pill until you choose to stop. Your period is probably off because of your change in diet & the stress. Both can affect your periods as far as delaying them, the amount of bleeding, etc. The exercising is a good thing though because it helps with cramps if you get them. Relax a little more to reduce your stress.

Hi, just the stress alone can affect your cycle, using a second form of protection is actually the right thing to do. But i would recommend seeing your obgyn, 4 years is a long time to remain on bc. Asking your obgyn opinion is The safest thing to do. He/She may be able to rec commend a differ ant form of bc.

PERSONALLY I THINK BEING ON THE PILL OR ANY MEDICAL CONTRACEPTIVE IS NOT GOOD UNLESS YOU HAVE ABNORMAL CYCLES. YOU COULD HAVE MESS UP PERIODS BECAUSE OF THE STRESS,EXERCISING, AND DIETING , BUT I WOULD STILL SEE YOUR DOCTOR AND TELL HIM YOUR CONCERNS ABOUT THE PILL AND THE PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING WITH YOUR PERIOD.

if you haven't had problems with this type of pill before it is probably due to your stress
