Can I still put 2lbs of postage on it?
How about smaller things like letters. 1.0oz ok? 1.1?

.5 ounces usually bumps it up to the higher rate. 1.1 is still $.41. 2.01 would be just the 2-lb rate.

I will never chance it again.

Many years ago, I sent a package to Spain from Chicago. I thought it weighted exactly 3 pounds, and put the correct amount of postage on it... a huge number of stamps.

About a month later, the package comes back to me! It said the postage was deficient by 7 cents. I had probably $15 worth of stamps on that box, and they shipped it back for a lousy 7 cents? Now, here's the best part: since they had cancelled all the stamps when shipping it, they said I had to put all new postage on it.

I work for the post office. I'm a mail carrier. We are not allowed to pick up mail that is over 1 pound unless you put in a request for pickup, which is free. You can go to www.usps.gov and schedule a pickup.

I forgot to add that if it is going to another country you will have to go into the post office and fill out a customs form and hand the box to the clerk yourself.
