I used kerosene in a college print-making class, to clean up oil-based inks. It's not the best choice, but it's cheap. Better is turpentine, or even better - baby oil! It smells MUCH better, and is pretty cheap, too.

Kerosene is used to remove glue and paint from your hands, but I wouldn't do it if my hands were relatively clean.

only needed if you use oil based paints, etc. it will dry your skin out so dont use it if you dont have to.

maybe it was to rehydrate your hands, but that is not based in knowledge or fact...
