I had my son when I was 33 years old and I was told that I was over the age limit to have a healthy baby by my doctors at Kaiser.
But my son turned out perfectly healthy with the exception of having hypospadia which I think was a birth defect caused by working around chemicals and not caused by my age.
But since your an older woman I wouldn't worry too much as long as you exercise, eat healthy, take your vitamins especially folic acid, get plenty of rest and watch allot of comedy's that will make you happy and keep you and your baby laughing.
Oh and get plenty of back rubs, that helps too. And drink plenty of water and stay away from tea, soda and coffee completely until you are no longer pregnant or nursing your baby.
My ex-sister n law drank too much soda while she was pregnant and her baby died because the soda ate a hole in the baby's head and tea can cause you to miscarry so stay away from that as well.
So make sure you drink absolutely no soda at all while pregnant or ingest any artificial foods such as fast food or margarine or partially hydrogenated oils or anything made with artificial ingredients or chemically modified foods.
The only safe oils for us to use are Canola oil and Olive oil everything else is just edible plastic and if you don't believe me just look up the ingredients on the margarine containers or oil containers.
Since your a little bit older than most moms you'll need to take extra percautions so be careful what you eat and make sure you wash your fruits and veggies before eating those as well.
Good luck and congratulations on your brand new baby!

Nope. I'm 24 and haven't started having children yet. But best of luck to you. I've heard it's pretty tough during pregnancy, as well as being almost 60 with a hyper, hormonal preteen/teen on your hands. But it's not impossible! Just put on your battle gear, because the critics are about to come 100 fold.

Only 5% of women that age successfully consive at that age using the own eggs. I would advise not waiting that long. If you have to wait that long and your married I would suggest doing I F V. You can have them put your embryos on ice now so when you get that age you will be more successful.

I know two who gave birth at 43 and all went well. My mother gave birth to me at age 43 and she was a wonderful mom!!! She lived to be 98 years old. Please be aware that there is a higher risk of "Downs Syndrome" in babies born to older mothers. Good luck!! Dona
