Hi, I got back from church today with a few questions regarding the homily of the priest... he stated that all humans are born pure hearted and without the blemish of a sin -- that is, when a baby is born he/she has no sin... yet. However, I am confused since I read in the Bible that sin have been sinced transgressed down from generations to generations since the days of Adam & Eve. Can someone please explain this?

Well, you have some good answers so far.... and some that are pretty short and are just the persons opinion on the subject and don't really explain anything.... so I'll try to explain my "opinion" from what I've been taught in church.

Children are all born prue hearted and without the blemish of sin, that is true. However, we are all born with a sinful nature, which is what I believe the Bible is saying when it talks about the sin transgressed from Adam and Eve.
Before Adam and Eve sinned the human body did not have a sinful nature. They were pure hearted and without sin, although they did have a free will, which is what eventually allowed them to sin. If God had not given us a free will, then we wouldn't be able to love Him, we would merely be robots saying "I love You". And who would want that?
So, since they had a free will, and eventually ate from the tree of life, they brought the "sinful nature" into the human body, which is now passed down through generation to generation.
Babies are born with this "sinful nature", but are pure since they have not yet sinned.
Also I believe that God does not consider them sinners until they have reached an age of accountability, which only He knows. If their brain does not register the act of the sin, or if they still do not grasp the concept of heaven and hell and true salvation they are not at an age of accountability.

It doesn't mean we are held accountable for their sins or our parents or grandparents or anyone... just that because of Adam and Eve we now how sin in us.

Two points...

#1 Yes, we are born without sin in our lives.....Thus, We are born innocent in the eyes of Almighty God!

#2 We are all born with the Adamic nature, in which we have a tendency to be tempted and are easily influenced at a very young age, somewhere between the age of 15 - 18 which would be the age of accountability. At the age of accountibility, we are accountable to God for our actions, and what we say and think.

That's why it's very important that we remain steadfast in the only hope that we can have, and that's hope in Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God.

It's also very important that we teach our younger generation in the teachings of God's Holy and Righteous Word. So that they too, may retain Right to the Tree of Life.

Thanks, and God bless you!

Well, you said Priest, so I will assume you are Catholic. From the Catholic point of view, all persons are born with "original sin" (passed down from the sin of Adam and Eve). Baptising the baby gets rid of "original sin", but of course, the baby will go on to sin and sin some more, as we all do.
You should really ask your Priest about this--it is his job to guide you spiritually!

Depends on the church you go to, they all have different opinions on being born sinful.
All I know is that if a baby, or a child under the age of accountability, dies, they automatically go to Heaven.

In my personal opinion, we are all born into a sinful world. If we continue to live, past the age of accountability, we will be accountable for our sins.

If a person was born "without sin", that person wouldn't ever have to die...( the wages of sin is death.)
So I assume that since we all have to die, that would mean we are ALL paying the wage for sin, which is death. We begin dying as soon as we are born because of sin.
This is my opinion of course.

This depends on your sect. Catholics believe that Eve created "original sin", and that we all have to pay for that sin. They believe that if a child dies before he or she is baptized, then that child will never go to heaven. Instead, they will go to purgatory. Most Protestand sects don't believe that. They seem to believe that we are born without sin, but learn it very early due to Eve's original sin. There are other sects that believe that we are not responsible for Eve's original sin, and therefore are born without blemish. Not sure which sect you belong to, but it all depends on what your Christian sect teaches.

Actually it is the opposite. Everyone who is born has the sin called Original Sin and it derives from Adam and Eve. No one is born without sin expect God himself through his divinity. Remember that his son, Jesus was a role model in his image like us through his baptism by John the Baptist showed us to repent our sins and especially through the power of water cleansing and giving renewal of life.

Baptism is the only way to erase the original sin that we all have when we are born and to renew ourselves in the lifestyle that we choose to follow the path of God.

Bro you think too much. But here is the answer... Sin are committed when you have the "use of reason". Of course that when you are a child. You don't commit sins. Now as you grow older and you now can decided between was wrong and right that is when you committed a sin. SIMPLE EFIL

The priest is WRONG. We are born into sin like you read in your bible.
I am not looking to insult the Catholic religion. Please know that. You need to keep reading your bible and believe it over anything a man has to tell you.

When it's religion versus the BIBLE.
ALWAYS choose the BIBLE.

You are born without sin because you haven't done anything yet. Adam and Eve defied God and that is the ultimate sin, but we all are not Adam and Eve so we have yet to defy God when we are born.

We are all born without sin, however, it is human nature that we will eventually sin ourselves.

We are human and prone to err.

We cannot resist certain things and we all have our weaknesses.

We are born without sin but doomed to eventually sin sooner or later.

Faith in God will save us.
