I absolutely love the band Evanescence and I own the piano/vocals/chords book for their album Fallen. But, I have issues playing it because I can't sing.. And I also get the treble clef and bass clef notes mixed up. Or I have to constantly look at a sheet with pre-written notes on it. And it's really sad because I used to play a cello which uses bass clef, but i forgot. I also can't afford lessons because 1. My parents wouldn't let me and 2. I only have a 67? Key keyboard. Does anyone have any tips and hints to help me? and yeah. i already know practicing will help...but please help!

What's the problem with starting on a 67 note keyboard? You don't need an imperial grand piano to start learning, and what a tremendous waste of money it would be to buy one if you gave up.

Have you tried asking your parents? They let you have cello lessons after all. If you really can't get lessons then I'm sorry to say but the only thing you can do is practice. Nothing, especially music, comes without a lot of hard work. It may be frustrating - but something simple like Evanescence (especially if you can already read music, and know the song) shouldn't take more than a few hours practice to be able to grasp.

If you do an hour or so a day then within two weeks or so you should be able to play it fine. Your reading of the notes will come along quickly too - once you've got it into your long-term memory you'll stop having to 'count' the notes on the stave.

Try to firstly play the music without singing - I can't sing and play at the same time (mostly because I haven't practiced it) and I've been playing the piano for 15 years. It's not an easy thing to be able to do.

Keep up the hard work!

ok listen suga, to teach yourself piano is not hard if you really have determination. I have taught myself piano for about a year and I am just fine the thing that will help you with sheet music is not only practice but learning a song that you really like the first song i ever learned on piano was love song by sara barellies the song is pretty awesome. but it is easier to learn songs that you love because you will want to learn them so just do those first and then you can build from there.

Um private lessons and lots of practice books. That;s the only way. Learning to play an instrument is not easy. You need lots of work and practice. It's not easy learning alone either.
