I can't say much for Alaska because I've never been there.

But people in Hawaii tend to share similar views with people who calls themselves democrats. (Suchs as same sex marriages, abortion, etc.)

Just like other states some people agree with the foreign policy of the current administration and most people don't.

But Hawaiians are still bitter from the fact that the Kingdom of Hawaii was destroyed and Hawaii was forced to become a state. Some still strongly believe that the United States should reinstate the Republic of Hawaii as it was. Others accept as fact that the United States will never give us the land that they took or fully repair the culture they destroyed. This is also sometimes why Hawaiians are so bitter towards people who are of caucasian descent.

I have only recently become aware of the fact that the USA invaded and overthrew the sovereign Kingdom of Hawaii. Even the USA admits it, acknowledging the fact in Public Law 103 - 150. The facts can be gleaned from websites such as hawaii-gov.net.
A question has been put to the vote on myverdict.net:-
'That Hawaii should be recognised as a sovereign nation rather than a US state'.

Just because they're unconnected to the US by land doesn't mean that they aren't part of the US. I mean, we may live in the states actually all connected, but we still experience the US differently than everyone else. It is all dependent on the city and state that you live in. The media is going to aim different things at different states. I mean, they can't aim all of the same ads at CA and Louisiana... So, it doesn't really make a difference where you are, everyone has a different outlook and opinion. That may exactly your question....

They feel just like everyone else. Just because they are physically separated from the lower 48 does not make them any less a part of the US. Their state governments do not differ from any other state.
