It is normal it happens more to some guys than others. It happens while sleeping and there is no way of catching anything it squirts out and get his pants, briefs, pjs, or whatever he sleeps in very wet. Usually it is a large amount of semen and so the sheets get wet also. If he lets it dry the sheets will be hard where the semen is. It is not easy being a man!

It isn't sperm and if it is it's because when you are sleeping you are relaxed, no muscles are holding anything back that is in your urethra so it just flows on out. It's called a wet dream when fibers build up and come out when you are sleeping.
