Most self-centered people I've met are really incredibly insecure. They more or less have to be focused on themselves because not many people want to be around them. If they didnt have themselves, they wouldnt have anyone.

honestly, it is partly genetic as well as learned..most self centered people are raised to get almost anything they want, are spoiled and always having their way..sometimes they have a parent that is also self centered, so it is learned from watching, I know few SC people that was raised to be humble and disiplined accordingly, sadly, todays babies are given the reign to ''express themselves'' and get by without any disipline.or structure..God help us in the future

i think that self centered people are actually really self conscious and they are just hiding it by appearing self centered. plus they probably had a "troubled past" (as stupid as that sounds) and this is their way of covering it up

Probably because they were raised to believe that they are the only, only people in the entire world. Everyone else is a distraction from what really matters: themselves. OR...something horrible happened in their lives, and someone else inadvertantly trained them to use that as a crutch, so therefore the world SHOULD revolve around them.

There has to be a beginning. and change begins in the self. The world is not ours to do with as we will. The day I began to look at what my person was doing and thinking and saying was the day my world stood still.

They are insecure and they are really worried that they may not be deem successful so they are out to rule the world at everyone else's expense. I would look for a more caring person rather than one that is obsessed with gaining wealth.

I honestly dont know, maybe they´ve just had really bad experiences in their life and they feel like they cant trust anyone anymore and that everyone is out to get them...so they have to protect themsleves and watch out for their own and only their own interests...? but im really not sure...
