Yes,that move was pure genius. You had a well equipped army that was experienced in keeping Iraq stable so Rumsfield knew he had to do SOMETHING.
Then he had to fight of the commies who wanted more troops in an undermining move to prevent chaos but he stood strong and God bless him for that.
That country wouldn't even be in a civil war today probably if it wasn't for that brilliant move.Without this heroic and intelligent policy chances are the troops would already be home and the cost of war would have been less.Who wants that? What's even worse is that lives could have been saved,American soldiers lives but also Iraqi civilians! The horor!Thank God for Rumsfield

you're unquestionably stunning and it rather is a call I protested, whilst it occurred. This became into considered one of Donald Rumsfelds very early, undesirable judgements. He did not comprehend the approach of the Iraqi people. He did not comprehend the incentive of those decrease than hands. He did not comprehend that politics basically existed on the applicable of the armies ranks, and the warriors rather purely mandatory a job. Rumsfeld many times shot from the hip. He became into egotistical, to a fault . yet another occasion of his failing became into to place in Paul Bremer, a company form, yet not a armed forces guy, to administration Iraq. What became into that all and sundry approximately and the place became into George Bush for the time of all this time? The removing of management you ask approximately removing, which could have been Rumsfeld !

I have to give it to you, that was a bonehead move.
There were a lot of people in the military and government that thought it was a bonehead move at the time.
Rumsfeld thought he was smarter than they were.
Apparently he wasn't.
The question though isn't "Was it a bone head move or not?" The question is what do we do about it now?
With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight any moron can jump up and down and say "You messed up! you messed up!"
That doesn't get anybody anywhere... the question isn't, did the EX-secretary of Defense screw up... the question is "What do we do to fix it?"

Rumsfeld was a completely inept egomaniac. Read Bob Woodward's book "State of Denial" if you want to know about all the details of his ineptitude. If there was a mistake to be made, he made it.

Th problem of lack of troops lies squarely on Bill Clinton's shoulders, who cut the military to the quick. Even my liberal soldier son in law admits this.
