If we take the bums welfare away, and tell them to pick the vegtables or they can starve, will we need cheap labor from mexico? They don't want to pay Americans desent wages to do the work, so why not give them the able bodied dependants called welfare recipients?

Not a bad idea. But if you take away the governments welfare money away what is this giant government gonna do with all the tax money they make you pay? They could support 20 iraqs with that kinda money. If they make you pay money to support thier welfare then they have control over you and thats what politics has become a race for control not public servants like they should be.
The reason they don't pay americans decent wages to work on farms is because farmers are taxed out of thier gourds they have to pay for the methadone clinics and rehab centers didn't you know that.

A lot of people do need to be taken off "welfare" and put to work but not all of them could be. Some actually are unable to work, some have babies or little children that they have no sitters for.If all corporations would have a GOOD day-care, that would help a lot. Believe me, most of these people would rather be makeing a respectable wage to support their family with. The Government does not give enough help to make life easy for any of these people. Most are even on a Food stamp program and if the cost of liveing goes up,they get a raise on their check, an equal amount is taken away from their food stamps. I am on disability and would much rather be back where I was working. If something were done about the illegals, our government would not have such a hard time helping us. I paid in for years, thats why I can collect now.Our government officials are the ones that need to cut back on pay-outs. Their own.

Oh great and wise sage are you aware that more than a few of our service men receive food stamps? That their wives often qualify for THE WIC program? And their children are enrolled in the lunch program at school.
Many hard working men and women receive assistance of some type or another.

They are already working, DUH!
Sure let's give them WELFARE recipients, especially since there is no such thing! There is a program called TANIF which is for short term assistance, and once used you are barred for life!
If you are talking about those on Medicaid almost all are children, who can't work but will someday, the elderly, who have already worked and the disabled, who can't work!
Next time, if you don't know your facts, don't ask!
And dirty, why should we be giving welfare to corporate America that rips us off?

Actually I have long held the belief that welfare recipients ought to be the govt employees....working in child care centers, being the clerks, answering the phones, working in the post offices, etc.
Why do we need people receiving welfare, drawing unemployment--AND still need paid gov't workers? Makes no sense to me...........

I hope you never have some bad luck or find yourself in a situation where you need assistance yourself. I know that some people are just being lazy, but there are a lot of people (children included) who would really be in horrible situations if it werent for these programs. I have nothing against illegals. They just want a better life and they ARE hard workers!!!

I have a hard time believing that the illegals are causing inflation. I suppose next you are going to tell me that they are responsible for the price of gas. Our taxes are not high by any stretch of the imagination. I guess you are one of those republicans who thinks our taxes should be low so we can not afford to give our citizens quality education or proper healthcare.

I lived in North Carolina for three years. There was a VERY high Mexican population there and we had NO problems. There was no vandalism, robberies, Mexican flags, gangs, or racism. The worked hard, lived in tiny apartments with many people and didnt cause any of these problems you are talking about. Dont you think that there are people like what you mentioned above in EVERY race? Whites included? You cant seperate out ONE ethnic group because there are good and bad in every group of people.

You will be relieved to know that I am not in government or politics and I have no desire to be. It's all too corrupt and (almost) everyone is in it for their own personal agenda. I dont have the stomach for that.

An illigal from any country (Russia,England,Italy,Spain,Bosnie,Mexico,Brazil,Etc,Etc.Cnnot collect Welfare Or Unemployment? Only Americans who are UNEMPLOYED bcz they can receive Welfare and Beg on the street for Spare change for Crack and other Drug Paraphenelia Are Allowed to receive Food Stamps,Welfare.!!!!!

They should be required to do anything to earn their living in the states. I am tire of these people coming here and living off me. They could pick cotton, sweep the streets, pick veggies, There is alot of things they can do. or go back to their home......
