There can't be one cause the "most common male name" depends on the culture, location, religion, etc. Like here in the US, Michael or William are totally common but India, where I'm from, it's Amrit or Gurdeep or something to that effect... So there can't be one for the whole world...

Although I don't know that the most common male name is in the entire world (I think it's probably impossible to tell), I was able to find some statistics that are relevant.
For 2006, the most popular male name in the United States was Jacob.
