1) There wouldn't have been any Al Qaeda in Iraq, like the 1000s that are there now making it a terrorists state, because of the presence of US troops.

2) The US military would still be in containment mode of Iraq w/ the no fly zones. (Costing about $25 Billion a year rather than the current $350 Billion).

3) There wouldn't be any sectarian/civil war

4) No US troops getting blown up by IEDs. (in fact, there would be few if any US military deaths).

5) Al Qaeda terrorists wouldn't be getting all the on the job training they are getting from US troops right now.

6) And Iran's greatest enemy in the Mideast (other than Israel) Saddam, would still be a major threat & thus maintain the balance of Sunni & Shiite power in that fagile region.

I'm not saying appeasement is a good thing but sometimes (NOT all) it can be a heck of lot smarter especilly when we find out that Saddam had nothing to do w/ 9/11?

That isn't appeasing Saddam!

We entered Iraq illegally and the blood of every person killed in Iraq is on the hands of George Bush!

Bush is the one who sat on his fat A__ and did not stop the sectarian civil war in it's infancy. He let it get out of control. No one else! George Bush, Commander in Chief! What a laugh as he deserted the National guard!

We would have , in fact, been much safer if we had not of attacked Iraq and put more troops into Afghanistan.

A good assessment none the less.

More people in Iraq would have jobs... Iran's power and influence would be checked... Lebanon would be a safer nation... the Middle East would be more safe.

Of course, there would be Iraqi citizens tortured for defying Hussein... but then again that is happening now by different people and that is still happening in Saudi Arabia and Syria.
We should have just left it alone.

Of course there was no real justification in the Coalition going to war but it may have hastened the only logical outcome of this war which is for Iraq to split into three autonomous regions. This would have happened in the event of Saddam´s demise in any case. The larger problem for Coalition troops who get injured is that many are actually suffering from brain damage due to the IEDs. and this problem will be with us for many years to come.
