I completely disagree.
I have been around awhile...
The Dems have consistently ridiculed and stood in direct opposition to Christian morality since Mcgovern, and it has steadily gotten worse over the years. This year they want us to believe is different...but they are spouting the same junk on the campaign trail that they have always done.
Ignoring Christian morality while discussing their faith is not going to win over Evangelical Christians, nor will direct opposition to Christian morality.
They try to claim that because they are for a increase in food stamps for those on welfare, that they are doing the Christian thing...while simultaneously telling us they think women should have the option of murder of their unborn children....even defending women who murdered their BORN children (as they couldn't help themselves due to their postpardom blues) and that homosexuals have the right to marriage....even further saying the church is preaching discrimination akin to racism when they oppose homosexuality....and on and on... Name a issue...you will find the Dems on the wrong side of it (80-90% of the time).
It is not that we Christians believed what the Republicans told us, as much as we saw for ourselves...repeatedly...what the Democrats have told us (and have actually done)!
Some of the younger barely Christian folk may fall for this tact (they are looking for an excuse to embrace sin)...so they may make some headway with them (although most of them are Democrats already anyways).

I totally agree!!!! (Some of my answer from a similar question yesterday)...
Let us look at the speech in its proper context to understand what Obama meant...
"Faith got hijacked, partly because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, all too eager to exploit what divides us."
"At every opportunity, they've told evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their church, while suggesting to the rest of the country that religious Americans care only about issues like abortion and gay marriage, school prayer and intelligent design," according to an advance copy of his speech.
Ok-good start. He is trying to get BEYOND the issues that Americans will all NEVER agree on. To me this makes sense...a new form of government that will put the focus on things we CAN change for the better: education, healthcare, social security...
Second, he is trying to show that all Democrats are not atheists. I am a Dem. AND a Christian. My mother raised me by listening to Focus on the Family; if anyone is trying to separate Americans and show that we have "bad" people out there, Dr. Dobson and his brigade are guilty of that crime. I thought Christians were to be examples for the world, not people who berate others!
"There was even a time when the Christian Coalition determined that its number one legislative priority was tax cuts for the rich," Obama said. "I don't know what Bible they're reading, but it doesn't jibe with my version."
If this fact is true, then the Christian Coalition is indeed hypocritical themselves.
Finally, please read Obama's books to understand that he did NOT practice Islam, but was merely educated in an Islamic country for a few years. Obama would most certainly say that Islam has been "hijcacked" too, in fact he warns in his books about any religion taken to the extreme.
Religion and govenment are separate for a reason, and he is merely trying to GET THINGS DONE!! Aren't you sick of argueing over abortion, gay rights, etc.? Americans will never agree on these issues, and Obama wants us to come together again and work together to make America better by focusing on NEW issues.

Everyone fights for the religious vote because religious people have proven that they will readily embrace nonsense -- which is exactly what all politicians are dishing out. There is a good reason why ALL politicians embrace Christianity and that reason is embodied in this quote by G.W. Bush: "You can fool some of the people all of the time and those are the ones you want to concentrate on."

Actually Obama had that highjacked way before he put his phony name on the ballet. He even has a suppose to be Christian web site, that Dems like because of the following .
Obama’s site: "Rev. Smith was honored by the notoriously violent Black Panther Party of Oakland in 1975, and in 1990 was given a community award by the Nation of Islam, an anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic and anti-gay group.
"Rev. Pfleger has allowed Nation of Islam chief Louis Farrakhan to preach in his church; he has been arrested for defacing billboards; he has paid prostitutes to worship at his church; and he staged an anti-gun rally in front of a gun store where he exhorted the crowd to hunt down the owner ‘like a rat’ and ‘snuff’ him.”
"While Obama is not responsible for the record of these three clergymen, he is responsible for giving them the opportunity to prominently display their testimonials on his religious outreach Web site. If these are the kinds of clergymen he admires, It will take more than ‘God talk’ to get Obama out of this jam.”
The issue’s cover story, "Obama and the Oprah Factor,” disclosed that Wright served as a "spiritual mentor” to a young Obama, and Obama wrote on the church’s Web site that while kneeling in the church: "I submitted myself to [God’s] will, and dedicated myself to discovering his truth.”
Obama has said that the title of his 2006 book, "The Audacity of Hope,” came from a Wright sermon.
The story also revealed that Oprah Winfrey attended services at Wright’s church after she moved to Chicago in 1984.
Now we know why these two are so tight.
Barack Hussein Obama cleaned-up real nice before articulating to his homies.

Senator Barack never said anything about Conservatives. I assuming that's what you are talking about.
If you are talking about con men, i understand you how might think that is what Obama was talking about.

Yes. They used it for their own political gain, which, you have to hand it to them, worked. It's not ethical at all, but neither is politics in general.
