meanings of nubian:
1. A native or inhabitant of Nubia.
2. Any of a group of closely related Nilo-Saharan languages spoken in the Sudan. Also called Nuba.
Further info:
The Nubians are an ethnic group in Egypt and Sudan. There are more Nubians in Sudan than in Egypt and their socio-economic status is better in Sudan than in Egypt. Their language, which is divided into two main branches, is called Nobiin, and they are descended from the ancient Nubians.
Ancient Nubians many times have invaded and controlled Egypt. The converse is also true, as there have been long periods of time in which Egypt has controlled and collected taxes from Nubia. In armed conflict, Nubian warriors were well known as extremely skilled archers and many of them were employed as mercenaries in the pharoanic Egyptian armies. Nubia and Egypt, although distinct empires, shared the same religion in the past.
The Nubian Tribes in Sudan inhabit the region between Halfa in the north to north Aldaba in the south. The main Nubian tribes are from north to south are: Halfaweyen, Sikut (Sickkout), Mahas and Danagla. They speak different dialects of the Nubian language.
The Nubians of today, as well as the Arabic-speaking groups northern Sudan, all show a clear physical continuity with the ancient Nubians.

Nubian's are member of an African tribe located in Nubia.. They were also the ancient Egyptian. They were also some of the greatest Egyptian Pharaohs that ever ruled Egypt.. As a matter of historical fact Ramses the Egyptian Pharaoh That Moses went to, To say let my people Go was a Nubian.. And Moses and his people were also members from the same family tree of the Nubian's... Also it was a Nubian princess the pharaoh Daughter that presented Moses to Se-ti who was the Pharaoh of Egypt at that time and said this is my son... I know that you must have read that story in the bible... And the only reason that the Pharaoh bounced moses on his knee and accepted him, was that the Black Nubian Pharaoh and Moses looked alike.... That is a true piece of Egyptian History Ladies and Gentleman.. Believe it or not For the ancient Hebrews were Black... And the Jews to-day refuse to be called Hebrew's... Now I wonder why is that so.....................................

Nubia is an area of North Africa, close to Egypt, which was used for slavery by the Ancient Egyptians. Very little remains of Nubian culture. The British Museum has a tiny exhibit of Nubian artefacts in a vast Ancient Egyptian section. I love Les Nubians, the singing group, popular in France!

Nubian refers to Nubia, an area of Africa (in antiquity) where kingdoms once flourished, in the lower Nile valley I think. Today it is used as an adjective to imply Blackness or of African origin in casual conversation.

I think "Nub" in Egyptian means gold, so technically it might have meant "Gold one" or "one of Gold". Technically that might mean light-skinned people. http://www.internetpuppets.org/afrnubia.html
I hope this helps.
Peace.
