In my opinion, the best way to achieve forgiveness is through sincerity. Anyone can say "I'm sorry", but how often do people repeat the same behavior, assuming that a simple I'm sorry, will get them off the hook once again. A person needs to forgive themselves first for the "offending" behavior before the person that's the object of the intended apology can feel that the apology is sincere and trust that the offense won't be repeated.

I can't be bothered, so nothing.

The larger is issue why do the thing that requires forgiveness in the first place. Letting the person know why you thought it was okay to do so in the first place is likely to be helpful. Otherwise, you are likely to do the same thing over again.

For example, if you did X because you were angry, you are likely to get angry again. Therefore, you are likely to do X again.

No one can make another person forgive them, they have to want to do it themselves. You can tell them you are sorry and then hope you will be forgiven.
