hmm let me see if i understand you.
are twins hereditary? yes but only fraternal twins and only on the maternal side.
will a twin have a twin... depends! a boy twin would not have any better of a chance of having twins than anyone else! a female twin could end up having twins if she was a fraternal twin. if they are identical it is just a fluke and anyone can have identical twins.

I would like to correct a misconception (no pun insteaded).
There are two types of twins. Fraternal twins result when two eggs are fertilized by two sperm, and form, two fetuses that grow in the same uterus till birth. Identical twins result when one egg is fertilized by one sperm and splits into two separate zygotes right away; with each zygote then going through the normal process of growth till birth.
Siamese twins are a special subset that occurs when the splitting doesn;t happen normally.
An egg fertilzed twice would produce one abnormal fetus with 1 1/2 times the normal number of genes.
That said, twins do seem to run in some families. However it is not necesarry to belong to such a family to have twins. And of course people on fertility drugs can have litters like cats or dogs.

Not all twins are genetic. There is a possible genetic link with fraternal twins since they are produced by the woman's release of 2 eggs in a cycle. The link, however, has nothing to do with the father and only to do with the mother...

Twinning can be hereditary, though some fraternal twins do
not have a genetic basis. But it is not absolute that twins have twins. I have known families where they only occur every
three generations or so.

Twins do not have to be hereditary! Anyone can get pregnant with twins, it just depends on if an two eggs are released or if one egg is fertilized twice.

Wow, what a confusing quest. Yes, twins are hereditary on the female side. I don't know what the second part of your question even asks.

Twins are more common in some families than others but there is no guarantee a twin will have a twin.
