An alien as said before could be a person foreign to anther country. Also alien could stand for a plant or animal not living in its native environment. When a person says that an alien is a little green man that lives in space that person is crazy. The possible existence of a complex organism similar to us is highly unlikely. If there is any aliens on other planets they would most likely be simple organisms like microbes.

Anyone from outside your social culture (usually country) could be considered an alien. Thus Mexicans, Canadians, and Italians would all be considered aliens to the United States.

An alien could just be a person from another country, anything foreign, but they are most often referred to as the "people" from other planets, any life form that is on a different planet, though none have been found.
