We live near Blackburn and have tried fabric suppliers in Blackburn, Rawtenstall and Burnley but there isnt much suitable to make a mans shirt, Everthing tends to be too thick or thin and not good enough quality and not too much choice either.
Looking for a Poly/cotton ideally in white and also blue.
Would consider imorting and have already looked at eBay so no need to suggest this.

We were once the capital of the cotton industry in the world around here and it is really bizarre that we cant find any?!

The classic material is Sea Island Cotton and I am sure a good material supplier could get this for you. You are after all in the cotton capital of England
