jeez some of these people suggest funny things.. mcfly? u gotta be kidding me. I know a hell of a lot of indie unsigned thru networking on myspace. hit search on myspace and type in some of these... I.E., working class heroes, sleep good feel good, doll set tones, i know over a thousand feel free to browse my friends list on there

If all else fails go into a newsagent an buy rock sound. a lot of their cds have quality unknown bands.

Depends on what type of stuff you like, also where do you live? As indie music changes a lot depending on where you are.
I listen to some of these bands most are indie-ish.

Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton
Elliott Smith
Kings Of Convenience
Sigur Ros.

Meg&Dia and Nada Surf are very good indie bands.
I think Plain White T's are indie.
and I'm pretty sure Paramore is.
