Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an abomination. The lack of special effects in the original made it rely on story and characters, simply told, no Michael Jackson inpersonations.

I like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory much better, one of the many difference is that in the old one the old man and his grand-kid did taste one the candy it was some kind of soda that made both of them float, I saw in the news the the original character (Willy Wonka) was flaming before the movie came out but he when he saw it he apologize and told it was pretty good.

Willy Wonka, definitiely. I love Johnny Depp, but he just didn't do Wonka justice. Charlie and the Chocolate factory was kind of dark and very Tim Burtonesque, but Willy Wonka was definitely funnier and the songs are more memorable.
