Without a doubt, the "squat to pee'ers" would have capitulated like their heroes the French!

If September 11, 2001 is equated to December 7, 1941; then today the war would already be over, and we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Japan surrendered in August of 1945, 44 months after they attacked Pearl Harbor.
We now find ourselves 51 months into our occupation of Iraq, with no end in sight.
So, no. If WWII "were happening today", it would already be over, and we would be calling it a success.
Operation Iraqi Liberation is bogged down in Fubariyah, and we are calling it a failure.

Okay, seeing that you're a Bush supporter I'm going to guess that you are probably not up on your history lessons.
World War II was over nearly sixty years ago. Body armor, military techniques, technological warfare... none of these things were invented or perfected yet. Now, the military has sunk billions upon billions of dollars perfecting warfare that is almost entirely manipulated through technology. In short, less of our soldiers are being put in harm's way. That's why the body-count is lower.
Also, who is "Chimpy McFlightsuit?" It sounds to me like you're speaking of President Primate in his Top Gun gear under that big "Mission Accomplished" sign.
By the way, that was over two years ago and we're still fighting. So exactly what "Mission" did he seemingly "accomplish?"
Why don't you ask an intelligent question next time?

To those invoking the past and saying how great the Dems were, the Democrats of those bygone eras wouldn't touch the party of today.
War is hell, people die, we are not the bad guys, never before in the history they like to invoke, has an 'occupying invader' taken such care to reduce civilian casualties, and build them up as we fight to build a better tomorrow.
I got a fund raising call the other day from one of the Dem. Pres. Candidates lamenting the building of 'Permenant Military Bases' in Iraq as if it is a sign we intend to be fighting the insurgency forever, I hate to tell you all some history, but Um, we have 'Permenant Military Bases' in Germany, and Japan, that we built their after WWII.
can any Liberal out there, who knows so much about the 'history we don't know' tell me another Superpower of any era, that won a war, conquered territory, and then simply removed the offending govt. and let the people pick their own leadership. and then after that, invested its own resources into building that new, non-territory into its own independant society.
The allies won WWII, and yet Japan and Germany were not parcelled off as the spoils of war, and today Japan is one of the wealthiest nations, and America is not collecting kickbacks on that investment.

The differences are huge. In WWII the Japanese attacked us and their allies the Nazi Germans declared war on us. We had no choice. We were threatened with destruction. People understood the need to fight the powerful Nazis and Japanese. It took less than 4 years and we won. That's called a success.
In Iraq, we were already in control of the weak and defeated country and inspections were looking for WMDs before Bush ordered them ended so he could attack. Since then, things have only gotten worse for us and it's taken longer than 4 years to lose and even the generals Bush keeps firing say that there's no way to win in Iraq. That's called a failure.

If equals meaningless. Check to see which party was in power during the second world war and which President had the nerve to use an atomic bomb to end the war. Hint, it wasn't a republican. So much for the cut and run liberals. Get a clue and learn some history.

It's not necessarily a failure because of the numbers. It's a failure because there is no end in sight and there is nothing to gain from this war. In WW2, we were fighting for something worthwhile, now we aren't.

If WWII was happening today it would already be over.
Japan was invading and overthrowing Chinese governments. They replaced the governments with Chinese nationals that were sympathetic to the interests of Japan to secure natural resources.
Sound familiar?

Yes, they'd whine about how 80 people die each day, but then would forget to mention we killed 200 enemy soldiers in one day.
Edit: The liberals below are not answering the question. The question was if WWII happened TODAY with cut and run liberals that we have TODAY. The Democratic Party of yesteryear was a party that I find very effective for America. However, that party has mutilated into cut and run liberals we see today.

The present day liberals would be sponsoring non-binding legislation for immediate withdrawal, meeting with the Nazis to apologize for our invasion of Europe and preaching diplomacy and more appeasement while passively supporting Hitler's agenda of hatred and domination - all in the guise of "supporting the troops."
