I've been to both several times.
Norway's main attraction would be the landscape and a cruise up the coast to see the fjords and northern lights would be great. I wasn't too captivated by Oslo. It was o.k., but Stockholm was more beautiful, great to walk around that city on islands (gamla stan = old town) and I went to see the old viking ship but i was too late or it was closed that day for some reason. Oh yeah, it was midsummer , Jun 21, and lots of things were closed. In both places get a room in a hotel that includes a smorgasbord breakfast. Fill up on that because they had the best breakfast buffets I'd ever seen, especially with all the pickled and smoked fish.
If you want to check out Denmark, too Copenhagen was prettier than Oslo. Oslo isn't bad, but the other 2 cities are more fun. I took an overnight cruise from Stockhom to helsinki, which was also nice, interesting architecture, but everything closed for "midsummer"
I crossed over to Estonia and saw Tallinn, very beautiful and old looking. I took another overnight ferry from Tallinn to Stockholm. Those ferry rides were very reasonable and included a bunk in a shared cabin with private shower, but from Tallinn to stockhom I had the cabin to myself.
Some effects of the northern lights I saw on those ferries, like in the middle of the night when the sunset kind of merged into sunrise and it never really got dark. I could imagine in the arctic circle it's amazing.

I've been to Bergen Norway and Gothenberg Sweden. Both are very expensive but have a high and clean standard of living. I guess for Norway you would have to say a visit to the Fjords is a must one of the worlds most natural beautiful creations. I'm not to sure about Sweden I just stayed in the city centre but it was really cool with plenty to do, they had a massive theme park there :)

I've been to Norway three times. Took a coastal steamer from Bergen to Trondheim which was a memorable experience. The vessel called in at various small towns along the way to drop off and pick up passengers. The scenery was breathtaking.
Trondheim is a good sized city with a cathedral worthy of a visit, and the nightlife will surprise you. It's one of my favourite places, and in Summer it never gets really dark due to the Midnight Sun. Wonderful holiday venue.

I was born and raised in the mystical north of sweden. If you go to sweden i strongly suggest you to go to the north.
In the winter, one thing you need to see is the ICE HOTEL in Jukkasjärvi close to Kiruna. Sleep one night in the ice hotel, belive me it will be a memory for life. If you dont like to sleep in an ice house on an ice bed - they have small houses to rent also. With a big glass cieling so you can see the northern light abowe your head. Northern lights is one of the most beutiful and mystical things you will see in your life - it is like colorfull ghosts dancing across the sky for you. Well, check this out:

Good luck!
