in the first time you use the router (i'm talking about 99.9% of the routers) you must use the Ethernet cable

Yes, u may have to ask the people u buy the router from. Depending on how the router works

You have to have to router connected to the main source of access. But the computer wont be hooked up it at all but will have a card or USB wireless hook up only. You should be able to hook up through a Ethernet cord or USB cord.

To initially set up your pc for the first time, you will need an ethernet cable.

I am sure you could. The wirless should be open any any one to get in. until you change it.
