Im attending a daytime wedding this coming weekend and would like to know what i could accessorise my black dress with so it doesn't look too depressing. its a one shoulder black dress (sorry can't describe it well!)

I know wearing black isn't an ideal colour to wear to a wedding but i haven't really got a choice anymore as i've been looking everywhere for a dress around London (online and on the highstreet including all the department stores - even harrods and selfridges) with no luck (either the fit/style isn't flattering or ran out of sizes).

Any accessorising ideas would be great as well as advice on where i could go to shop for these accessories.

Thanks :)

You could add some color with maybe a belt (depending on the dress style), or a shawl (depending on the weather), and match it with jewelry, a handbag, and maybe even the shoes, as long as the color doesn't start to look excessive.

I LOVE your dress, its stunning! If you want a Gatsby look, then you could consider a long strand of pearls and pearl earrings. Go with a cloche hat (which will be next to impossible to find to match the dress) or a face veil with pearls and rhinestone accents to match the bling on the dress. Or you could wear a feather fascinator. Or, drop earrings, a face veil and a big wide pearl and crystal bracelet. You'll look great either way!

Blue, white, pink or red go very well with black so go for shoes and matching bag in those colours. Also jazz it up with diamond(or cubics)jewellery to add a touch of glam. You should also get a hair comb with some sort of adornment but something subtle as you dont wanna over do it. The best places for accs are the cheap shops in central London or monsoon or Claire's accessories or h&m

You're definiately in luck if you have to accessorise a black dress because anything can go with it! Just make sure that everything you decide to accessorise with the dress is of a similar color. I'd go with shoes, belt/sash, some jewlery, and maybe a hairbow or something. Just make sure you don't have too many accessories in one area, its best to spread them out.

Well, its not bad to wear black for a special occasion like a wedding, jennifer aniston wears black dresses all the time, i would accessorize it with a really pretty gold chain with flowers or something. Though, you could do what jennifer does pretty often, which is wearing a nice simple but very flattering necklace and/or gold bangles. She also tends to make her makeup more flirty, natural, and kind.

maybe a cream bolero fitted shape...or a cream hat and pashmina, over the shoulders , taken under the arms and tied at the back neatly like the geisha style dresses.
if the dress is a line go for the bolero, if its fitted, go for the pashmina, and have a clutch bag, simple yet understated
avoid a necklace as the dress is one shoulder...if it swoops maybe but if the dress is not rouched and close to your chest wear earrings only

Silver accessories would be great... any shop generally does silver jewlary... and those scarf things... you could tie a bright colour around you neck in you hair as an alice band or around your waist if if looks right...a nd then match your shoes to that colour!! and eye make up!!

I think either pearls or silver. Silver earrings especially will look nice with a black dress

i would say a pearl necklace, not a full string of pearls but one with like a single pearl suronded by diamonds(fake or real), then a similar matching bracelet, and some diamond ended bobby pins to put in ur hair if ur wearing it up
