Solve the following system of linear inequalities by graphing.
x – 2y >(or equal) 4
x <(or equal 4

Note: Or Equal, it wouldn't let me paste the line under the sign.

P.S. If you can please help, I'm taking online Algebra and I'm really struggling. I only have about 1 week to go.

Hi there, I know this doesn't help now, but I always say to always take the math class in person. I had considered doing mine online in college, but since I have such a hard time in math, I did it with a live professor. I'm glad I did because I ended up with a B in the class. He is probably still having nightmares about all the questions I asked him lol and it has been 2 years. =) Good luck!

First of all, write this as >= or <=

x - 2y >= 4

x - 4 >= 2y

2y <= x - 4

y <= x/2 - 2

So start with a line that has a slope of -1/2 and a y-intercept of -2. Some points are (0,2), (2,-3), (4,-4)...

Do we draw a dashed line or a solid line? If the inequality is only < or >, draw a dashed line, because the line itself is not included. If the inequality is <= or >=, draw a solid line.

Next we shade a portion. Which portion, above or below? If the inequality involves >, we shade above. < we shade below.

Well, for the first one, graph the line x-2y=4 and any value on or above the line will satisfy the inequality (since it's greater than or equal to).
For the second one, graph the line x=4, and since it's less than or equal to, any value on or below the line will satisfy the inequality.

Graph X is <(or equal) 4 and y <(or equal) 0.5x-2

When you graph them, the area to the left x<(equal) 4 and the area below y< (equal)0.5x-2 is your answer
