Well, if you have no experience in music, I'd start out with something as simple as possible. The keyboard and the drums are the easiest to learn, because unlike instruments that require you to blow (you know what I mean) there is no special trick to making a sound with those. And unlike string instruments, there are no complicated hand positions.

I play trumpet, french horn, drums, guitar, bells, piano, violin, mandolin and harmonica. Of all of those I can tell you that the guitar is the widest instrument, because you can play so many different types and feelings of music. The trumpet can be beautiful or energetic, drums can just be energetic, bells can energetic and sound nice, but are too obnoxious to be beautiful, violin is unique, it's always got that beautiful quality but it can't reach the harder emotions. Piano is nearly as wide as guitar, and if you've got a keyboard it would be just as great, but a guitar is pretty much the best choice.

Guitar all the way, because it's practically the only instrument you can play on it's own (and sing to, if you wish!) properly. You couldn't 'play someone a tune' on the drums, really ;-)
A guitar is great because it's easy once your fingers stop getting sore, you can teach yourself a lot of it, and if you can play an acoustic, you can also play an electric - 2 totally different sounds!
Go for the guitar and once you've mastered it, go for drums, then bass, then piano! ;-)

Depends how noisy you want to be....Guitar is great fun but drums are also good. Piano is a good instrument but you need some space for a piano (unless you get a decent keyboard)
It also depends on how musically gifted you are though I suppose

You should learn Bass guitar. I'm planning on learning it eventually. My friend says it's the most fun instrument our of the guitar and drums! Also, the turntables and pro djing would be really fun. I'm going to buy some turntables this summer and become really talented with them for me and my friends' funkaliciousnessly alternative hardcore band!

Guitar - very versatile in the types of music you can play and easy to pick up at first - but as you play for longer there is always something different to learn. Also you can teach your self

well, you should really play the piano. one of the reasons its because its very easy to learn to play.
also, you dont have to blow, so your abdominal muscles dont hurt, and if you pick an instrument wich you have to blow, trust me, it does hurt, i know because i play the clarinet. the piano is also very romantic.
but heres a piece of advice... you cant just pick an instrument by its size, color, material, or by anything other than its sound.
if you are going to choose an instrument, take your time hearing every single one of their sounds. dont do it randomly, because you need a satisfying feeling to keep on going and not stop practicing wich you wont get if you just pick what ever intrument looks pretty to you. also, music needs a lot of patience, and you must practice about 3 hours daily... DAILY!
hope i helped!
