I mean prior to cap's untimely demise. what other comic book character would be an even match for riddick? How 'bout wolverine, hand to hand, no claws?

Captain America- he's the hand-to-hand combatant, hands-down (no pun intended) He's even better than Batman, Daredevil, Riddick etc.
Now give Riddick a teacup.. things may be different :)

Riddick has good skills, but Captain America also has other abilities besides his superhuman strength. He's also AMERICA, he never gives up.
Wolverine, however, would kill pretty much everybody. He can heal and rarely tire.
