How about Blair Witch Project?
But I agree, there has to be some blood and gore in a really good horror movie. Otherwise I suppose it would only be a thriller then. If I were to chose blood and gore then it would be a toss up between Saw and Hostel!

Shaun of the Dead
it's a Zombie flick but it also has some laughs, you'll love it!

28 Weeks Later
also a zombie movie but it'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

What's the point of a horror movie if you dont see something sic? I think what you're looking for is a suspense or thriller and not a horror movie.

OK, I will give you one of the scariest movies of all time with a cruel, evil villian that will give you the creeps until you lose your memory. There is no blood or huge violence. It's Disney, it's rated G, it has Bugs Bunny in it.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

No joke.

Well, if you don't mind Asian horror films, I recommand:
"The Eye"

and "Bunshinsaba" [ Witchboard ]

---

Good American movies are;
"Pulse" [ remake of Kairo ]
"The Ring" [ remake of Ringu ]
"Dark Water" [ remake of asian movie ]
and,
actually the most modern version of "The Shining" is pretty good.
