Islam has had many heroes (as have other faiths.)
To name but a few:

Muhammed the Prophet (pbuh)

The Rashidun:
Abu Bakr - 632 - 634
Umar ibn al-Khattab - 634 - 644
Uthman ibn Affan - 644 - 656
Ali ibn Abi Talib - 656 - 661

Then there are all the scientists, artists, scholars, and military leaders (including my favorite, Saladin)

Muslims are in many nations. There is no "muslim" nation. Saudi Arabia is the home of Mecca and Medea the two most holy cities of Islam. They are where Muhammad lived and developed followers of his new religion.

There are other heroes in Islamic history. Sullyman the Great of the Ottoman Empire.
Akbar the Great of India (son-in-law built the Taj Mahall).

There are others still who are more recent.

Lots of nations where Islam is either the dominate religion or where a significant part of the population are Islamic.

If you mean Historically, many of the Cultural heroes are great sages or holy men. There are two great Generals, both of whom were Kurds, who lived in the early middle ages. Nur A'din and Saladin. Saladin was the general featured in Ridley Scot's Kingdom of Heaven movie.

He is considered the greatest warrior and a progressive thinker.
