38 weeks pregnant. The last time i asked - i had some bleeding - after a trip to the hospital they said that it was not from the baby or plancenta - but caused by hormonal changes, that had made skin sensitive around vagina walls. The blood would stop by itself.

What i need to know is what the mucus plug looks like - I don't want to be gross about it - because I have read it can come out over a number of days - but is it thicker and more stringy than normal discharge. I can't tell if I have lost it because still having light bleeding.

any help would be appreciated - i have been having braxton hicks and cramps as well - doctor said this was normal.

thanks

You will recognize it as not being normal. It is normally thick and grayish and a lot bigger then ldischarge. Sometimes it will have blood on it but it will be big enough to recognize in the toilet bigger then a dime closer to a quarter

It is more like a large blob of snot (sorry for being so graphic, but I'm a nurse), which sometimes has blood streaks in it. You will be able to see the difference from any discharges before. This is the first stage of labor, so call your doctor, and he will probably tell you to "Come on down"! Good luck and just relax and "breath". I is the most awesome experience you will ever experience.
