It is a 1970, the fuel lines and the fuel pump have recently been changed. Originally we thought it was vapor lock but now it just seems that the carb is not getting gas at all. If we pour gas directly it will start up but not stay running.

what year ? is it ! are you sure it's not getting fuel? is it getting fire? is all the wires hooked up to your distrubiter? if you don't think your carb it getting fuel look down your carb while you give it gas . if you don't see gas coming to the carb check your fuel filter. look for cramped gas lines the older motors are not hard to work on just take your time and ask lost of questions ever thing was simple back then

Check for fuel delivery to the carb. Remove the fuel line at the carb. Place a small container to catch the fuel.
Crank over the engine for a few seconds.

If no fuel is present, check for an obstructed fuel filter. If fuel filter appears OK, then replace the fuel pump.

If there is adequate fuel - open the choke flap & look down at the throttle plates. Move the throttle shaft back, you should see a squirt of fuel on each side . DO NOT look down the carb with the engine running. If no fuel is observed then the accelerator is faulty.
