I was driving down the highway (in my 2001 Toyota Celica) with my AC on and then all of a sudden it stopped blowing cold air, and hasn't worked since. What could the problem be? and how much should it cost to fix it?

in the first part of your question. there are a number of reasons that you air conditioner may have stopped working. the reasons can be electrical or mechanical. first lets start by the easiest. check your recycle button and make sure it is in the recycle mode. then of course your ac button. next check your fuses. in the owners manual it will give you the locations of the fuses generally there will be one in the passenger compartment and the other will be under the hood. if that does not cure the problem go to a mechanic shop that works on air conditioners and have them do a diagnostic for you the cost should be 100 dollars or less (about 35 dollars) and usually discount that if you have the work done there. hope this helps

The most common is a sudden loss of refrigerant is rock piercing the A/C condencer. You can look for oily residue and rock mark thru the lower grill opening. And a close second is A/C drive belt, But not on the Celica the ac and alternator is driven by the same belt. Or a A/C rubber hose failure. In the event your condencer has a hole a new aftermarket condencer is around $250 installed evaculated and recharged be sure they add oil back to the system. Good Luck

it could be anything,it might just have blown a fuse for it,first id check the fuses for it to verify that all the fuses are good, then if that isn't it you may have to take it to a shop to have it diagnosed, usually when they just go out all the sudden like that its the fuse that blows ,and there will be spare fuses down by the fuse panel for it,good luck on it hope this helps.
