How is that guy in Illinois charged with 8 counts of murder when he only killed 4 people?

The Vaughn case. He supposedly shot his wife and three kids. According to authorities he then shot himself in the arm to make it appear as if she shot all of them. They were getting a divorce probably because he had been cheating on her.

2 counts per person one set of counts;shots with intent to kill,
and the other counts for alledgling knowing that the shots would likely cause death or bodilly harm

I'd have to know what case you are talking about, but yes indeed it is possible. (Perhaps the 8 counts are reported incorrectly, taking into account lesser included offenses such as manslaughter.)
