Because they are jealous of the life they have, how much more important and interesting the Royals' ancestors were compared to the average Middle Class person's and therefore if they can't get that type of life, then nobody should. People can say whatever they want, but it is obvious.

because these envious people are just jealous to the Monarchy, as they hardly knew anything about them except what the heard, watched n read on mass media. Don't judge anything by its cover, outsiders aren't sure of what the Monarchy been through. I think I would rather be a commoner than being born into a royal family....there are so many protocols!!!

For some detractors, it's purely a matter of envy;these people envy the quality of life that the royals lead.But they would be sorely disappointed to find out that by ousting the royals,they don't oust all rich people who lead equally or even better high-quality standards of living.
Some detractors have political ideals in mind.They don't seem to realize that running a republic, with a president,vice president,congress, would end up costing them even more than the royals do(which some posters here have shown isn't much compared to US governmental costs).They are not familiar with pork barrel spending,pay raises(to already wealthy people) and the like.

Why would a working class person hate someone who was born into fame, fortune, and power for no other reason than their ancestry having power over some peasants who could do nothing about "nobility"?

I don't hate the monarchy. I just think that it is redundant.
