We have sort of that same problem here in America with Professional Football, Professional Basketball, and Major league baseball.
The fact is money rules professional sports. The teams winning to spend the most money for players, coaches and managers will be the winning teams. Winning translates to Dollars and Pounds for the team owners.
And as long a people at paying to go see teams where most of the players are foreigners the team owners and going to be recruiting them.

Of all the teams in England, I would say Manchester United have been one of the most consistent at developing young players AND giving them a chance in the first team. However, I fear for the day when Ferguson finally moves on and is replaced by another foreign manager. I doubt very much if these people have much interest or concerns about local or British players.

I think we are one of the better clubs for nuturing home grown talent, definately the best out of the top four. Alot of our squad is English or British if you look at it. Fergie likes to buy English players but if the lads in our academy just arent good enough then Sir Fergie is right to buy talent from abroad IMO. Apparently there's a young striker called Brandy that SAF is keen on and is one to look out for, not seen him myself though. I think the question is more to do with England itself not producing, if the talent was there then i'm sure they'd be breaking through. Maybe we're just going through a lull.
