it's my Dad's and it is bronze or copper w/pin for attaching to clothing. None of us ever heard of a license pin.............is it rare? It's round and has DRIVER LICENSE at top, then 1949, then 8453,then COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY at bottom.

They are pretty rare because no one really saved them. It's probably worth $25-$100. Some people collect them.

You need to research it first. Try the department of motor vehicles first. Then there must be a Kentucky historical society. There also must be a large main library in the state capitol, try them also. You have an item with a limited collector base, once you get some info on it, then you can go look for a buyer. Try the auction sites.
