Reading all your questions, you must be doing something significantly wrong - or it is a case of very bad luck. My American colleague, she hardly speaks any German, who is not the brightest human being I have met (rather the opposite) earns lots of money, she does not want to go home as she loves the pay, the diversity in Germany, etc.

Where in Germany do you live? What kind of job are you looking for? You see, in Germany you will have to be very determined to get a job, even if you may not have the proper qualifications. If you want to work in a factory, the pay will be very low, too many people are looking for such jobs and they can live on 6 or 8 euros / hour.

I'm not certain, but there are some things you can do to find out. There is something similar to the Board of Wages and Hours in Germany. Contact them for information. Also, ask your co-workers what they are paid. If you do the same job, you should have similar pay. Of course they may make more because they've been there longer, have more experience, etc. But, it won't be that much different than yours. If it is, then something probably is going on.
