I can understand your annoyance. I have seen many questions that make such an assumption. I, for one, do not make assumptions based on people's skin color. That being said, it does seem that the majority of African Americans support Al Sharpton, that may be the reason some people make that assumption.

Ignorance and the fact that a lot of people automatically assume that Rev. Al Sharpton speaks for everyone in the African-American community. There are many leaders in the community, but Al Sharpton appears to be a lot more vocal and the media pays more attention to him. Perhaps the other voices are being drowned out or ignored?

Just the same way you can post an illogical post like this, not every person does think that just because Al Sharpton is black that he represents all blacks or that all blacks support him, just like NO ONE assumes just because GW Bush is white that every white supports him. Just because you might know ONE or TWo people who think that, does not mean that everyone does. However when you take a look at the OJ Simpson trail and see how happy a LOT of black people were when he got off MURDERING two white people, you got to admit, there are a lot of black people who showed in that situation that there colour was more important than JUSTICE for two murdered people (which should have been regardless of colour)

I've never thought that. However, the dear Reverend CLAIMS to speak for ALL blacks......so SOME stupid people would assume that ALL blacks in turn would support the idiot. I always thought the far left libs and those wishing to make a fast buck off a racially based lawsuit were his supporters.

Because Al Sharpton styles himself not as a leader who happens to be black, but as a leader /of/ blacks, and, as a spokesman for all blacks.

I can't believe how many support and listen to Al of any race. I have a good idea of your stance on that poor excuse of a man and it's probably aligned with mine :)

It's unfair, but to many people, if the NAACP supports someone, it is automatically assumed that all Blacks also support that person as well, since again, it seems that all Blacks support the NAACP no matter what. That is probably not true, but it is the perception

I don't think the US is any more racist than "most" other societies. Granted it can be a lot better, but I have friends that had most of their family killed in African tribal warfare. Let's not even get started in the Mideastern conflicts. Oh, I was born in Detroit City.

I haven't really ever given this a thought. But thanks for telling us.

I've assumed Sharpton has the support of Liberals.
