You have to keep it, unfortunately. All it takes is one catastrophic (or not so catastrophic) accident to wipe a person out financially if they have no insurance. Health isn't really the issue here. You could be involved in any number of physical injuries that could demand serious long-term treatment and without that insurance, it'll wipe you out. Take it from me!
Here's the good news: There are outfits that shop a health insurance quote for you. You CAN find policies that only cover catastophic accidents but don't cover office visits. They can build a plan to suit your needs specifically and you could save up to 50% annually. Just make sure you have that safety net in place should something occur to your or your family (if you are covering them as well). That way you can say, 'no thanks' to office visit coverage and prescription med coverage and only pay for the policy that would cover you only in the event of something like an auto accident, cancer or heart disease (all of which could require long-term care and would be a monster burden for you financially). Good luck! Shop around! Your current policy or provider is the only one out there. Find one that works for YOUR specific needs!

I have found that as soon as a person doesn't have health insurance that is when they need it, thus you don't miss it until its gone! I think everyone should keep health insurance. Godforbid you need medical attention and don't have it, you may end up having to go to a county hospital and trust me that is not something you want to do. Search the internet for a less expensive insurance. If you have no pre exsisting conditions you should be able to save 40-50%. Good luck

Yes you should. It's actually a good investment. Although you may be healthy now, there is always that chance that something bad could happen and you will need it all of the sudden. People get in car wrecks, have appendicitis, develop severe chronic illnesses, and have emergencies everyday. It's only a matter of time before something happens to you and you will need it no matter how healthy you are now. Healthcare is expensive, and you don't want to be caught without insurance if you can afford it, and plus, 4,000 dollars a year is not an incredibly large amount of money to be saving in exchange for good healtcare when you find yourself in need of it oneday.

If you’re healthy, $4,000/year is a lot of money to spend on something that you are barely using! There’s a new company offering low cost individual health plans in Texas for young, reasonably healthy people. You buy into a plan at a super low cost with fixed benefits that will cover the typical activities and preventative care of a healthy person. Then, if something catastrophic happens, you have the option to get additional levels of coverage, even AFTER the event. A healthy male 25-years-old (and under) would pay under $100 a month for basic coverage. Check them out at http://www.precedent.com. Even if you’re not in Texas, my understanding is that they’ll be offering plans in additional states soon. Hope this helps!

Why is your insurance so expensive? Welcome to the wonderful world of H.I.. You could gamble at Las Vegas and get the same results. You will, however, probably need it eventually. Or not. Frustrating, ain't it???
Study your family history. If you come from healthy stock, then you only have to worry about being hit by an SUV or something similar. Do you feel capable of crossing the street carefully for the rest of your life?
