welcome to my world.
my water broke today my cerclage is still in tact so unless infection comes (contractions, high temperature, high pulse, tender belly, etc) my doctor isnt going to take it out. i was just released last thursday because my cervix had lengthened from nothing to 1.2 cent. i was here for about 20 days at that time. now look where i am???? i am back....the nurses didnt even have enough time to miss me. now i cant get up to pee or shower either. funky huh? i am hating the bed pan. i have refused procardia to stop contractions because i dont like how it makes me feel and i am not having enough action going on body-wise to make me want to take it. i am just letting God direct me through this.
my email addy is abbenie2305@gmail.com. this is my husbands email (fishdates2)
y dont u email me and maybe we can swap info. that might help us to get through this a little easier.
ps are u getting steroids? if not, then request it. u only have to get 2 shots and its not so bad.
i will be praying for you

"the meds" he is referring to is probably something like cervidil. which is usually in the form of a suppository that they put up your vagina to help soften and ripen your cervix. after that they might give you pitocin to start contractions. My experience was: I went in at 7 a.m. They gave me 2 doses of cervidil at 7:30 a.m. Doctor came in and broke my water at 11 a.m. (i didn't need pitocin because i was already getting contractions, but they weren't very painful at this point). A few hours after she broke my water, the contractions got real painful, but it was too early for an epidural. They gave me some pain meds through my I.V. which didn't do a whole lot, but took the edge off a little. At 3:30 I finally got my epidural. Started pushing around 5:30 and my daughter was born at 6:34 p.m. You have to be dilated to a certain number (though i can't remember what that is) before you can get your epidural, because sometimes epidurals can slow labor down. Good luck, I'm sure everything will go fine!! My labor went much more smoother than I ever expected. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

I'm surprised they're allowing you wait at all, but I'm sure they know what they're doing. Anyway, they can't allow you to get up because you'll need all the amniotic fluid that you still have inside the womb to stay right where it is. The baby needs it to continue to develop until it can be born. If you get up, you could rupture again, and that could lead to premature birth or even infection. So just continue doing what you're doing...resting and giving that little baby plenty of time to develop until it's time. You're in the best place, getting great care and allowing that little one time until he/she is ready to come out and meet mom!

Haven't been through anything like this but have had friends that have and there is really no way around it - you just have to find ways to occupy yourself while you are waiting. You are in the best place - you will probably be getting lots of visitors this being Sunday. What are some of the things you enjoy doing? Obviously using the internet is one. Do you enjoy sketching, reading or writing? No easy way around it really.

I had preterm contractions at 20 weeks with my second. They were stopped but my water never broke. I just thought it might help you a little to know that your amniotic fluid will constantly be replacing itself so the baby is never completely without even after it's broken. But then I'm sure you know that by your wet sheets. Prayers are with you and your little one.

I didn't think any doctor would wait that long to deliver a baby once your water breaks? After 24 hours of your water breaking you are at a great risk for infection.
