Obviously its part of the whole conspiracy theories but has he actually tried to expain why he chose to stay at the school instead of cancelling altogether(i read somewhere he knew of the first tower BEFORE he went in the classroom)and even after the 2nd tower he chose to stay there.

Im sure there must be some sort of answer from him even if it is lies. He cant just of ignored the uproar about his own actions!

and as for not upsetting the children, noone was expecting him to run out screaming but he could have made a valid reason why he the president had to leave.

A lot of you say he is just a puppet. As far as im concerned, whatever the truth, he has to be SEEN to be in control! And in response to homeless in phoenix, i did say noone would have expected him to run out screaming!

I think I heard him say once that he didn't want to frighten the children.

But if you ask me, I think he was waiting for someone to tell him what to do. Bush is not really in charge of his administration, he is just a spokesman. He has people to tell him what to say and do. Without them he doesn't know what to do.

It wouldn't have mattered what President Bush did that day people would have found fault with it. If he'd have gotten up right there people would be claiming he was too excitable, etc etc etc.

I recall hearing that no one was certain what was going on after the first plane hit, in fact there seemed to be several different and conflicting reports. After the 2nd plane hit the WTC was there a press area set up? Were the press networks ready? Should the President have more information than just a second plane has hit the WTC?

Even in today's heavy communication world even a tornado takes time to get out to the public, and that's a very time sensitive thing where people's lives could depend on speed of the message. There is a system set up but even then its not instant.

To me this is one area that states he didn't know of an attack happening. If he did, then he'd already have had a speech ready to deliver to the press.

**EDIT**
I do have one question:
What would you have liked him to do?

I doubt that Bush knew anything about the 9-11 tragedy. It is highly possible that people in his administration knew of - or maybe even participated in - the attacks. They would not have told Bush because his 'deer-in-the-headlights' demeanor would have given it away. Besides, he's only a puppet for the wealthy elitists and industrialists who control our government, and he would have only been told on a 'need-to-know' basis. Bush's reaction is easily explained: since his handlers hadn't coached him he had no idea as to what to say, how to act, or what to do. Bush is a simpleton....he is only the pawn in this gargantuan game of wealth, power and influence that staged the 9-11 attacks; then unconstitutionally, illegally, unjustifiably and immorally invaded another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the U.S.A. all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. -RKO- 06/24/07

I AM NOT a fan of GWB but what good would it have done if he had reacted with horror. He would have frightened a classroom of kids and that would have be wrong. He left when he thought he could do so without causing a scene. This is probably the one time l think he did the right thing.

In my opinion, that's the one thing that he obviously hadn't prepared for; his reaction to hearing the news. The wars against Iraq and Afghanistan had been planned years earlier, they just needed a reason. There were far too many things happened that day to prevent a US air force intercept, before any plane hit anything, for them to have all been a coincidence. And two other things, the Pentagon: where was the plane? Philadelphia: where was the plane? There is so much more .................

The US was under attack, the CIA knew it but they also knew President bush was not a target so left him there,I do not believe Bush knew of the CIA conspiracy to attack the US to instigate the war on terror and the invasion of Iraq,If it had been a random attack without CIA involvement you can bet your bottonm dollar they would have moved him to safety in seconds.

I think he just sat in the classroom because he did not know what to do. He just wanted to continue as usual without causing disruption to what he already had planned. He just did not know what to do.

He made the right choice because if he was reactionary the consequences and fallout could have been more horrific.

Woody Pink- excellent response. It would've worked, too, if you hadn't made a grammatical mistake when calling Bush a moron.

'Pot - Kettle - Black' springs to mind.

Well I guess he should have grabbed an AK-47 and ran out into the streets. He did exactly what any responsible president or CEO would have done that has people under them handling the situation. He waited for their responses and reports before acting.
