I have a new water heater , it is sealed to keep vapors out. It has ran fine till yesterday when the drain in my basement got plugged and left about 1 foot of water in my basement.

It has a pizaro to relight it with, but it will not work ( possible, because striker is wet). I want to just remove part of the plate and relight it with a lighter , but there is a warning that saysto not remove the front plate.

I bleed off the gas and valed it off for over 24 hours, while I had a space heater next to it, it still does not want to light.

Any ideas will be appriciated.

NO NO NO.... This unit must be discarded and NOT used again. Our company is authorized by all major water heater companies and if you read the label on the side of the water heater you arenot to use this again at all, it becomes not only a safety hazard but a health hazard as well.

DO NOT FIX THIS UNIT

Was the water heater immersed in water? You may have to have the burner assembly removed and cleaned/dried before running again. Try to find the owners manual and look up water immersion. If you can't find the paper copy, write down the make, model and serial number and search the manufacturer's website for information.

Use a blow dryer to dry and then attempt to relight. Good luck
