Like the glass slippers in Cinderella? I think with the technology nowadays, that could slightly be possible, cause couldn't they make the glass super tough so it wouldn't break when one walks in the slippers? A shoemaker/glassblower could make them, right? I mean, we do have the little glass slippers, so making big ones could be possible?
ps. I didn't know where to put my question...but glass slippers sound kind of like a craft don't they :)?

Good question! Can they be made? Yes. You would need to find a master glass blower craftsman though. Can they be worn? Probably not. Glass that "tough" would more than likely be too heavy. Glass doesn't flex much as they would difficult to walk in and probably very uncomfortable.
You may want to pursue clear acrylic that can be pressure or vacuum formed to a mold. It will look like glass and probably a lot more feet friendly. Good luck.
PS Your question is fine. Have you seen some on here?

As glass came into the story from a translation mistake, ('ferre' which is squirrel fur, only used for royalty, was read as 'verre', glass, which seemed impossible to make shoes out of,) it does not really matter any case.
After the mis-translation got popular in English, the french started to use the 'glass' slippers in the story too.
If you want 'glass' shoes, you are better off with plastics, that look like glass and can be, and are, mass produced.
My niece had a pair in a kids play pack, with nice pink tops.

The shoe could be made in cast class, resin or a plastic. There would be a visible seam down the center. Glass, even tempered glass, would not stand up to the strain of even the most dainty footsteps. Glass ends up with invisible imperfections that cause breakage when there is any source of strain.
All of the above would be quite uncomfortable to wear!

I wonder what the symbolism is about. Fairy tales often use symbolism or hidden meaning (to us). A lot of them were political satires or statements (not Grimm or Anderson, maybe, but may even some of them--who knows?).
I don't think you could even blow a glass slipper. How could Cinderella dance in them, anyway? All of a sudden she knows ballroom dancing, too?
She would slip in them, lol. Her feet would slip inside them, and on the waxed floor too. Maybe it was "close dancing"--nobody moved their feet.
Still don't see the pumpkin either. Pumpkins came from the Americas, so Cinderella must have been written in the 1500s or later, but it still doesn't sound European. Maybe an adaptation of an old tale, using pumpkins instead of cabbages, say.
Glass could mean transparency--that is, no deceit. Her stepsisters used deceit on her (notice that they tried on the slipper but failed--they wanted to look honest as Cinderella).
No deceit=a pure heart. That's why the prince chose her.
Now what about the mice?

I am sure it is over 20 years since I wore a pair of slippers. I would name 7 slippers after the days of the week.

Theoretically, it should be possible, but challenging. You'd have to make them for a very petite woman, and out of very sturdy glass (I'm thinking like pyrex). You'd also want to make flats instead of heels, to help even out the pressure. If I can ever get into serious glassworking I'll try it (I've actually thought about it myself) and we'll see how it works.

I would take glass beads, thread them on wire and form them into your size shoe.
