No. If the war is still raging and the Republican scandals and the perception of corruption from the White House is still alive and kicking the Democrats could nominate Daffy Duck and win the election. Bush has divided this country almost as badly as it was during Vietnam. The Republican Party is desperate and walking a fence right now. They know if they stand firmly behind the President and this war they will lose badly in '08. But if they do what's right and help the Democrats put a leash on him over the war then they aren't toeing the party line. It's quite a problem they have. It was easy to see it in the last debate. How do they distance themselves from a President who 2/3's of the nation is unhappy with - without hurting their own party? Quite the problem. Congress has a terrible approval rating, but when the numbers are examined the Republicans have a higher disapproval rating than the Democrats, by 9 points. The writing is on the wall but the Republicans are desperate not to see it. If they won't see it they can't fix it, and that means they continue to cut their own throats. It's a long time to the election and a lot can change. But the sort of changes that Republicans will have to make to win in '08 are next to impossible for them with their current mindset.

I don't think so. Its true some people would not vote for a woman or for a Black, but a lot of people are fed up with Republicans. And rightly so. Yesterday friends and I registered voters at a street fair, over 130 people changed their registration from Republican to Democratic--that is unprecedented. There may well be a Democratic Landslide in 2008.

Unless they put up Ron Paul.

What Obama said about evangalical Christians to some that are won't help him.

The best thing the DNC can do right now is dump Hillary, Obama, and Edwards.

Find someone closer to the center than going farther and farther to the left.
00 election was a squeaker
DNC went left Kerry in 04 and Bush got the majority of votes.

DNC approval rating is lower than GOP prior to 06 election.

Someone needs to wake them up before they go over the cliff.

I go both ways, Im truly independent. I think right now the Democrats can throw up a monkey. They wont lose. Im not saying they are a better party but I cant see any republican winning right now, if Jesus came down and ran as a republican he would still lose.

The polls only show what the Dem or Rep say about their canidates. They dont poll independents. And im guessing they are voting 90% non-republican. They dont want Democracts but they are sick of Republicans.

Who's gonna beat 'em? McCain? Giuliani? Romney? These old fogies ain't getting nobody excited like Obama and Edwards are. I don't think Clinton can get past the whole woman thing, but she sure can raise some money. Look out for Bloomberg as an indie. He's gonna make some noise.

No, the majority of this nation is pretty moderate. Beyond that with all major elections being incredibly close in recent years I would highly doubt it. I think Democrats have only become re-energized not disenfranchised.

It depends on who gets the Republican nomination. If we get a genuine Reagan conservative, then yes, they will lose. Maybe not with historically low votes, but they will definitely lose.

Nah, I don't think so.
It's a "Them against us" mentallity in the United States today. They don't care as long as they triumph over the other side.
It's all about winning an argument. It has become an obsession.
