I think that at least once every 10 years the league should realign teams, switching some teams to different divisions or from the AFC to NFC and vice versa.

The NFL realigned in 2002 to (a) make room for the Houston Texans, who started play that year, and (b) to even up the conferences. Unless we're talking about expansion any time soon (two teams in LA, one each in San Antonio and Utah, please) , why realign? If it ain't broke...

Now, let's have some fun and realign geographically (again, I'm not advocating this - it's all in good fun):
Division 1 (Northeast): Buffalo, New England, Giants, Jets
Division 2 (Atlantic): Cincinnati, Cleveland, Philly, Pittsburgh
Division 3 (Capital): Atlanta, Baltimore, Carolina, Washington
Division 4 (Southeast): Jacksonville, Miami, New Orleans, Tampa Bay
Division 5 (Central): Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota (hey, that's the current NFC North!)
Division 6 (Midwest): Indy, KC, St. Louis, Tennessee
Division 7 (Mountain): Arizona, Dallas, Denver, Houston
Division 8 (Pacific): Oakland, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle

Oh NO NO NO NO. What is this the new Goddell logic, like wanting to hold a Superbowl outside the U.S. This is INSANE. The Divisions were aligned the way they were to keep the NATURAL RIVALS alive. We don't need to try to invent new ones. Wait a minute is that you Gary Bettman? Sorry but NHL fans would get the joke. This would be a TERRIBLE idea. Just giving my opinion here. Seriously though we don't need to have teams switch conferences. The NFC and AFC switch who is stronger as teams and who is weaker over time. If we switch the teams around like that it would mess up that natural order as well.

Sooner or later, there will be new teams that will be added to the league, so there's no question that there will be realignments, but the league should keep some important divison rivals.

I thought they just did this? That is why Seattle is in the NFC now instead of the AFC. I am always for reallignment when it comes to situating teams into geographic regions. No need for the Dallas Stars to be in the Western Conf. Pacific division - the NHL needs to reallign before the NFL messes with it.

No, I disagree. Switching teams around would make a complete mockery of divisional rivalries and would be pointless.

Sometimes change isn't always good.

No, it's a bad idea.
