This sounds more like the carved idols often associated with Baal worship. Keep it in context.

However, it would be wrong to worship a tree (decorated or not) and hold it up as a powerful force to help someone in their life. I feel that at least in America, most people celebrate Christmas with a tree, mostly as decoration, a great air freshener, and a place to put the presents. It is part of a celebration of Jesus birth. A popular tradition, but not worship( in most cases)

Not everybody who celebrates Xmas or decorates their own tree does so because of scriptures or even Jesus. They probably do it because its their own family tradition, and I do it because its bloody fun.

Because you took it out of context. Even though we decorate it we are not worshipping it as an idol.

Well, one reason is that not everyone is Xtian, and thus not everyone is celebrating the Xtian part of XMas. For me, it's a Yule Tree :)

As usual when somebody quotes a single-verse "proof text," it proves nothing or next to nothing.

Because a lot of people aren't stupid enough to fall for something written in an ancient book. Plus, it's fun. :D

You think people actually read scripture?

If they did there would be no "christmas".

It's the WINTER SOLSTICE and nothing more.

They stole it through bloodshed and deceit for their bullshit book.
