You may want to try buring in the middle of the feeding as well as at the end. Also try a varitey of burping techniques. You can hold the baby on your chest facing over your shoulder (this is probably the most traditional way). You can sit the baby on your lap and support his chin while patting his back. You also can try laying him on his tummy over your lap and patting his back. If none of this is working you may want to try moving him around a bit and then trying again.

We also used Mylicon or Little Tummies gas drops on our son and they seemed to help. Are you breastfeeding or formula feeding? If you are formula feeding you may want to talk to your pediatrician about switching formulas.

Good luck!

Whether he spits up or not has nothing to do with what he is drinking...my babies frequently spit up breast milk...

The bubbles they get usually are from swallowing air. So, if he is burped more frequently, say every two ounces, that can help. Also, if you see that he is gulping (mine did that--so greedy!) stop after he gets some and burp him.

Methods of burping: you have to find what works best for him. There is over the shoulder, sitting up on your lap, a favorite is across your lap [as if you would spank] gently patting his back. In that position, you could gently rock him with your knees at the same time, if he needs a little soothing. Another position that some like is, holding him in the arms as if cradling, except have him face the floor. Always make sure his head is supported.

Just remember, if you burp more frequently, go back to feeding him right away, as soon as he burps,so he doesn't get frustrated and gulp some more.

Don't be rigid. If he doesn't do it every time, its not terrible.

My son had this problem also. Gas drops are great. You can give them upto 12 drops a day. I usually did give him one drop before feeding and burps would come out great. When he was first born, the nurse at the hospital showed us a technique too. You hold him with one had basically on the belly and rib area while gently patting him on the back with the other hand. The pressure on the tummy usually can get a burp up. Our son is a bit older now so he has good head control and what we do now is bounce him gently on our knee, not even needing to pat his back and the burps come right out.

After 2 babies I figured out a couple of things that may help. Burp after every ounce until about a month old and then every 2 ounces.

With my son the only way to get good burps was to put him on my knee (with his head facing my toe) and pat and rub his back. Sometimes rubbing while bouncing my knee a little help.

My daughter was a strict shoulder burper. I felt like I was going to break her back with the force it took to get a burp.

This is very frustrating but keep trying.

Good luck!!!!!!1

in my opinion, i think of which you're biting off too a lot here. Do the two one in each of you share the comparable perspectives on parenting? How is your buddy going to react once you disclipine her infant? All young little ones get mad/annoyed at their infant care vendors because of the fact they're "mean" (which potential they are able to' t have candy for breakfast/cant leap on the mattress, etc.)--your buddy will pick to take her daughter's area. Do you have young little ones? How is your little ones going to love sharing their time with you? Are you definitely confident that your buddy will pay you while your salary is due? Are you going to experience uncomfortable inquiring on your pay? Is your buddy probably to apply you by utilizing not picking her young little ones up on time? this might properly be the tip of a desirable friendship. inspite of the undeniable fact that, in case you come back to a decision to babysit, the 11 year old could probably delight in crafts (beads, portray, clay); cooking; puzzles - something troublesome like 500 products; make a school cutting photos out of a mag; %. subjects to study on the cyber web (%. a rustic-make something unique to the lifestyle-practice a meal from that united states--you may desire to stretch the undertaking out over some days); examining; have the 11 year old to convey a number of her issues.

You can try burping, then if no burp, lay the baby down on his back for a minute or two then try burping again and so on. It usually works after one or two tries.

It depends on how ur burping him, I found that sitting him up on your lap and bending him slightly forward then patting his back worked really good on most babies.

I used to lay my babies over my shoulder and place them high up so my breast was gently pressing on their tummy and then pat. Also sometimes some VERY light bouncing on your lap helps.
