Hi Steam man.
Mix a solution of 1/2 surgical spirit and 1/2 cold water and pour liberally over the soiled area.
This will remove the odour within approximately 30 Min's.
Good luck.

I go to Wal-mart & buy their store brand of Febreeze. I think it's called Fabric Refresher. It costs $1.27 per bottle & I use it on everything. We have a room with the carpet removed & just the wood showing. It even works on that. Anything that will absorb odors I use it on & it works. Of course you can use Febreeze but it costs more & the results are the same. I bought a garden sprayer so my hand wouldn't get tired. Love my dog but hate the pee smell. This works!

White vinegar mixed with 50% hot water and a tablespoon of Vanilla extract. It souds ridiculous, but a chemist once mixed me some to get rid of the smell of where a tom cat entered my house uninvited and sprayed all over my new carpets! The vanilla neutralises the pong and doesn't just disguise it.

As the other response said baking soda will do the job.
But first flush with lots of water sprinkle on the baking soda while the gravel is still damp. Next day dampen the gravel with water.
after a few days flush again with lots of water.

Bleach have worked for me. The baking soda absorbs the smell, keeping it and you have to constantly clean . The chlorine in the bleach kill the bacteria that causes the smell and last way longer than any other product.

A lot of products do nothing more than cover up the smell temporarily. I found a homemade recipe using simple household ingredients that works.

Ordinary creosote mixed with water will take all the smells away.
It is also harmless to the garden plants, in fact it is good for getting rid of pests, like aphids.
